Automated Highways And The Free Agent Demonstration

چکیده
In August of 1997, The US National Automated Highway System Consortium (NAHSC) presented a proof of technical feasibility demonstration of automated driving. The 97 Demo took place on car-pool lanes on I15 in San Diego, California. Members of the Consortium demonstrated many different functions, including: Vision-based road following Lane departure warning Magnetic nail following Radar reflective strip following Radar-based headway maintenance Ladar-based headway maintenance Partial automation and evolutionary systems Close vehicle following (platooning) Cooperative maneuvering Obstacle detection and avoidance Mixed automated and manual driving Mixed automated cars and buses Semi-automated maintenance operations Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) led the effort to build the Free Agent Demonstration (FAD). The FAD involved two fully-automated cars, one partially-automated car, and two fullyautomated city buses. The scenario demonstrated speed and headway control, lane following, lane changing, obstacle detection, and cooperative obstacle avoidance maneuvers. This paper describes the demonstration itself, the technology that made the demonstration possible, and the current efforts to turn the demonstration system into a practical prototype.

Reading the Hidden Concepts in the Text of Tehran Highways Walls
Because of the dispersion of activities in big cities, employing highways as the most important connecting way is indispensable. In today world, highways are connection arteries of cities transporting people to their social activities. Because of continual use of highway, their walls prepare a context for conveying many Social, Cultural, Economic, etc concepts. That is why most economic promoti...
متن کاملCoding of Road Information for Automated Highways
Communication of information from the roadway infrastructure to vehicles is expected to enhance Automated Highway Systems (AHS) by supporting subsystem functions like vehicle motion control, multiple vehicle coordination, and vehicle navigation. A suitable communication channel is information coding in the lateral reference used for automatic steering and lane keeping control, e.g. in the magne...
متن کاملRetrieval–travel-time model for free-fall-flow-rack automated storage and retrieval system
Automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RSs) are material handling systems that are frequently used in manufacturing and distribution centers. The modelling of the retrieval–travel time of an AS/RS (expected product delivery time) is practically important, because it allows us to evaluate and improve the system throughput. The free-fall-flow-rack AS/RS has emerged as a new technology for dr...
متن کاملReducing Retrieval Time in Automated Storage and Retrieval System with a Gravitational Conveyor Based on Multi-Agent Systems
The main objective of this study is to reduce the retrieval time of a list of products by choosing the best combination of storage and retrieval rules at any time. This is why we start by implementing some storage rules in an Automated Storage/Retrieval System (Automated Storage and Retrieval System: AS/RS) fitted with a gravity conveyor while some of these rules are dedicated to storage and ot...
متن کاملBone imaging demonstration of osseous lesions and hepatic uptake: Amyloid and renal dialysis effect
A 64-year-old woman, with amyloid related kidney failure (On renal dialysis) had a bone scan because of pain in the right upper femur. The 99m Tc-MDP images revealed marked hepatic uptake. In addition, there was right proximal femoral concentration of radiotracer, which corresponded to a fracture site. As an added finding, the same femor demonstrated circumferential uptake at the lower po...
